•  Founder and President of 1-800-CTO.
•  Provides services in due diligence and strategy, project bootstrapping and mentoring, and tools and technology.

EchoFactor.com - Co-Founder and Chief Technologist

• Proposed the idea behind EchoFactor.com. Secured $500K in seed funding.
• Built and managed a team of ten software engineers, marketers, and web designers.
• Defined and managed an aggressive product release schedule.  Led seed team from idea to functional prototype in 5 weeks, launched public beta 8 weeks later, and hit scheduled release dates every 4-6 weeks thereafter.
• Architected an intelligent agent system that generated the largest repository of XML news feeds on the web (over 30,000 feeds automatically updating multiple times a day.)
• Built a fault-tolerant, horizontally scaleable system with a hardware budget of less than $35,000 using Linux, PHP, Java, Oracle, and Apache.
• Maintained full P&L responsibility, including all budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditures, and headcount allocation.
• Presented the business plan to over a dozen venture capital firms.  Secured a term sheet for $1.5 million in Series A funding.

Infonautics Corporation - Director of Technology

• Set technology direction and product roadmap for all the company’s products.
• Reorganized and rebuilt the technology team after a merger in which 2/3 of the company was sold.  Included development of new reporting hierarchies and product strategies.
• Scaled the technology behind the web properties.  Media Metrix ranks the Infonautics Network as reaching over 3% of all Internet users monthly.  The Sleuth products send over 1,000,000 personalized emails daily.
• Oversaw technology managers and all software engineers, system administrators, quality assurance, and graphic designers.  Setup and directed an offshore development team for product maintenance.

Infonautics Corporation - Director of Product Development

• Created processes and culture for developing innovative new products that solved business needs.
• Supervised implementation for strategic partnerships with dozens of companies including AOL.com, Lycos, NewsAlert, ON24, RagingBull and ESPN.
• Lead and mentored technical management team as the size of the product development team doubled to 65.

Infonautics Corporation - Technology Manager

• Lead tiger team of 10 people to re-architect eLibrary.com to triple its capacity, double its speed and halve its cost of operation.  Exceeded all these goals.
• Recruited and managed a team of 8 people.  Included compensation management, personnel development, performance appraisal, motivation, and conflict resolution.

Infonautics Corporation - Project Leader/Sr. Software Engineer

• Lead a cross-functional team of 25 people to successfully create a knowledge management product for Hewlett Packard.  This product later spawned an entire division within the company.
• Responsible for performance tuning, scalability analysis, and rapid problem solving.
• Developed information extraction and information retrieval software for the Electric Library product.

Picker International - Sr. Software Engineer

•  Architected a multi-threaded, RPC based server for use in medical image processing systems.

Lockheed Martin - Software Engineer

• Designed and developed a Virtual Patient Folder to link disparate sources of medical information.

New York State Dept. of Health - Wadsworth Labs - Programmer

• Implemented a User interface for an electron microscope particle selecting program.

Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center - Programmer

• Created a base library of X-Window and Motif interface routines for scientific programs.
